Perfected. That’s not generally a term we use when we think of ourselves. According to Scripture though, that is exactly what Christ calls those who follow Him.
How can we possibly be perfect in God’s sight? Only through the blood sacrifice of Jesus!
Hebrews 10:11-14 (TLB):
Under the old agreement the priests stood before the altar day after day offering sacrifices that could never take away our sins. But Christ gave himself to God for our sins as one sacrifice for all time and then sat down in the place of highest honor at God’s right hand, waiting for his enemies to be laid under his feet. For by that one offering he made forever perfect in the sight of God all those whom he is making holy.
So many times we put pressure on ourselves or those we love to try to be perfect. We may not do it consciously, but we want everything to be just right. Oh, we know deep down that nobody is perfect and that even we ourselves aren’t perfect, but it is still what we strive for and what we want to see in others.
Why do you think that is?
Is it because it is something that is truly unattainable, so we try even harder?
Is it because we feel we have something to prove to others?
Is it because we are afraid that if we aren’t perfect, we are “broken” and nobody will love us?
Whatever the reason, it’s time for us all to come to the realization that we can *never* be perfect here on this earth. Knowing that, we should be putting our energy into living our lives for Christ to the utmost of our ability. No, we won’t reach perfection while we are here, but just think of the beauty and wonder to come when we do finally meet Jesus face to face! Then, we will truly see perfection!
Our sins can never be dissolved by any other means than through our faith in Christ. If we have that, we can stop trying to prove ourselves and get down to the business of being a light in this world.
Now, stop putting so much pressure on yourself and those you love to be perfect. Jesus has already taken care of that.
Here is your homework for this weekend.
♥ Take some time to show someone some love.
♥ Share a cup of coffee with someone else who might be stressing out over their lack of perfection and let them know that God’s got them covered.
♥ Relax …. then get out and shine!
Be blessed, my perfected friends!
