Captive: DVD Giveaway

*This giveaway has ended!
Winning entry was #2 – Patricia Counsell!*

Last year, I gave out the book … this year, it’s the DVD!

Based on a true story, Captive is a drama about the spiritual collision of two lost souls.

Brian Nichols (Golden Globe Nominee David Oyelowo), on the run from police and desperate to make contact with his newborn son, takes recently widowed mother Ashley Smith (Kata Mara) hostage in her own apartment.  Fearing for her life and desperately hoping to see her daughter again, she turns to Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life for guidance.

Ashley and her captor face a crossroads where they discover hope and light in the midst of despair in the moving film that Dick Rolfe, CEO, Dove Foundation hailed as “powerful.”

There are over 30 minutes of bonus content on this DVD including Journey Through Darkness: Filming Captive and Faith and The Purpose Driven Life.  Also included with this DVD is a Digital HD copy that can be instantly streamed and downloaded.

Take a peek at the trailer:

My Thoughts: 3 Stars

I was a little disappointed with the movie, because there were parts that didn’t follow the book. Being that it was based on a true story, I was hoping the movie would follow the book pretty closely. Granted, I realize that in the movie industry they have to take some liberties in order to make a film, so I have to cut a little slack there. If you haven’t read the book, you will probably enjoy the film much more.

Hmmm…. Movies from true stories… Disney movies probably don’t count, which means Pixar ones don’t either…. Lol. Next someone will probably tell me that animals don’t actually talk or clean your house for you…. Haha

The Help – wasn’t that based on a real story? Or maybe it was just based on the book…. Lol. Apparently I am terrible with movies….

I think “The Hiding Place”, the life of Corrie Ten Boom. Only by the Grace of God can a human come out of the furnace with a heart for everyone.
