Art With Sydney

Little Miss Sydney

Last week one of my long-time friends, Kay, brought her granddaughter Sydney over to have an art day with me. Isn’t she a doll?

Sydney showed up in a skirt and cowboy boots, carrying her little lunch box with snacks and water in it. After showing me what she brought, we went outside and she played on the swing set for a few minutes while Kay and I visited, then it was back inside to get down to business. lol

We did a few little projects, but before they left, I took out one of my 8X10″ canvases and had Syd make me a hand print picture. We painted her up in sunrise colors, and it turned out so pretty that I just had to share it with you.

So … these are Sydney’s hands … and the cute little “baby feet” she made with her hands.

She even autographed it for me!

Since my own kids are grown and gone now, I had almost forgotten how fun it was to do art with little ones. Sydney was awesome, and we had such a fun time that we are already making plans to do it again soon.

What was the last art project you made with a little one? Share with me!

Very Sweet. I think the most fun projects we had when you were growing up was all of our homemade Christmas ornaments. Ice Skaters, Soldiers, Wreaths, Candles, etc. I still love thinking of sitting around the table in Gig Harbor painting the soldiers, gluing on the matchstick arms, pom-pom hats.

I’m getting the warm fuzzies, right now.

What’s amazing is that some of those decorations still go on my tree every year! Who would have thought they would last 30+ years? lol
