So … hubby and I pulled an all-nighter last night. Why, you ask? Because our schedules have been so thrown off the past week with all the holiday festivities, that we were staying up until dawn and sleeping half our day away. It’s no way to live. It’s a very strange feeling to wake up a few hours before the sun goes down. Don’t like it much at all.
Last night we made the decision, (foolish as it may seem) to stay up all night so we can go to bed early this evening and get our sleep schedules back on track. Well, at least as “on track” as it can get for me. I still haven’t mastered sleeping after 38 years. I think there must have been some vitamins missing from my formula as a baby. Either that or the sleep gene just decided to wreak havoc with me just for fun.
What we have discovered though, is that our night owl routine is not only affecting us … it is affecting our cat as well. Sir Maximus Mew Mew is decidedly more like a dog than a cat most days. He follows me around the house. He has to be touching me in some shape or form, regardless of where I am. At night, he climbs into bed with me, curls up, and sleeps the night away. Aren’t cats supposed to be wide-eyed and bushy-tailed at night? Not my kitty.
We have noticed recently that when I don’t go to bed, neither does Sir Maximus. He will lay at my feet, or sit on my desk. He will plop himself on the arms of the couch or even lay across the back of our office chairs. He seems to be a bit off kilter, and is probably wondering what is wrong with his crazy owners. As I type this, Maximus is lying about a foot from me, at the base of my desk. Each time I get up to go downstairs, he follows me, probably hoping I am finally going to go lay down so he can get a good nights rest.
Considering how discombobulated he has been acting today, I decided to use him as my photo of the day. I snapped this picture about 11:00 this morning, and as you can see, he is perched up on the back of Derek’s chair trying to get comfy and catch a few winks. Poor sleep-deprived kitty! (Derek on the other hand, is giving the signal that he needs to get up and refill his coffee mug!)
Fret no longer Maximus! I am going to bed very soon, and you can rest your tired little whiskers for the next 8 hours … at least! ;)

Wishing you all sweet dreams tonight …

lol I so know what you mean by being messed up on sleep. We have been that way too. It’s horrible and I still don’t feel like I have gotten enough rest. lol
Terrible, isn’t it? LOL!
