Isn’t it strange how even though we *know* that outward beauty is fleeting, we still burden ourselves by believing the lies that we don’t measure up to others? I don’t know about you all, but I am tired of the pressure that the world puts on the female population to be perfect! What is perfect, anyway? Who deems what is beautiful and what is not?
God has designed each of us just the way He wanted us to be. He gave us hearts to love, and compassion to feel what others feel. Our focus should not be on ourselves and what society may think of our outward appearance; it should instead be seeking the Lord and asking how we can make a difference in the life of another person.
I know, I know! That’s easier said than done. Don’t worry … I’m right there with you. I have struggled my entire life with my own self-image. I went from being a “normal” skinny little girl to a chunky pre-teen, and after being teased by more people than I would like to admit, I have spent the last 30 some-odd years of my life either on a diet, not eating, or just plain giving up and not caring. Well, that’s not true. Deep down I have always cared … but I tried to act like I didn’t.
So, with all of that being said, I want to introduce you to two precious young women of God who are setting out to make a difference in the lives of other young women. They have started a Facebook page called “The Palm Project” where they are witnessing of God’s love and encouraging other young women to believe and remember that it is not about outward beauty; true beauty lies in being daughters of the King!
I would love for you all to check out their info page to see what it is all about, but what I really would love is for you to take a few minutes to watch the two videos posted below and *see* these girls for yourselves. Then head over, “like” their page, and pass it along to all the young women in your life.
Meet Madeleine:
Meet Emily:
Now, The Palm Project has many plans and ideas that they are praying about right now, but one thing I do know for sure; I am hosting a giveaway for a custom journal made with my own little hands! I hope to see you there! :o)
Incredibly inspired by Emily and Madeleine,
