My husband and I recently purchased a Roku HD Player thanks to the gift card for Amazon that we earned through MyPoints.
This little box is so cool! We can now watch the movies *we* want to watch, whenever we want. All it takes is a subscription to NetFlix ($8.99/mo.), an internet connection (wired or wireless) and we have the world of movies at our fingertips. Woo hoo!
I decided to blog about this today for three reasons:
1.) It is a great way to save money for family entertainment. When you think about it, the $8.99 per month fee for Netflix is only a little more than you would pay for one person to purchase 1 ticket to go see a movie, or to rent two new releases. Crazy!
2.) You have complete control over when you want to watch your movies, on demand, with no extra cost. Your monthly fee covers all movies you put into your queue.
3.) You don’t have to worry about sending discs back and forth through the mail, worrying about damages, and having long wait times in between movies.
One of the features I love is being able to go to the Netflix website, watch trailers, read reviews and check out the ratings before we decide. It’s been nice to find so many family-friendly movies and be able to simply add them to our movie queue for later viewing. When we are ready to have a movie night, we just have to turn on the Roku menu, flip through our Netflix queue, and choose which movie to watch. So simple!
Netflix even has TV show series like Law & Order, Bones, M.A.S.H., House (and so many more!), classic movies and TV series, (anyone miss the Munsters? lol) and tons of things for the kids and/or grandkids. We have lots of Veggie Tales movies we will be catching up on. :)
Lastly, the Roku also gives you the ability to rent or purchase movies from the Amazon.com Movies on Demand channel, as well as giving you access to other free channels. You will never have to go to a movie store or RedBox and you will never have to worry about late fees again. Yeah buddy!
If you watch a lot of movies, or have regular family movie nights, you should really check out the Roku HD Player and the Netflix service. You won’t be disappointed! And remember, if you don’t have the cash to purchase a Roku player, sign up with MyPoints to earn some gift cards for a free one. :)
